Was driving home this morning and I passed a part of the street where there’s only room for one car. I was driving my truck and saw a gold, tricked out TransAm heading my way. We both slowed down, and I pulled to the side to let the kid (presumably) pass me. As the car slid past, I just had to laugh. The driver was a little old lady, could barely see over the steering wheel, and she was dressed to the nines with a formal Driving Miss Daisy hat with flowers on it. Hope she reads my blog and leaves me a comment!!!

This is undoubtedly the worst SNL skit I’ve ever seen. So why do I watch it over and over again? There’s just something awesome about this. See what you think (sorry about the ad, not sure how to get rid of that)…
This one is for my pal, David Sobsey. Get better quick, David! For you other folks, this is the very first Dean Martin Comedy Roast. Basically, it’s a collection of sharp-witted comedians, and other famous folk, all poking bristly fun at the roastee, in this case, Johnny Carson. A collection of comedy pioneers, the start of a longstanding tradition…
Back in the early days of television, Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks both worked for an amazingly funny TV show called “Your Show of Shows”. One of the best bits they created for the show was known as “The 2,000 year old man”, where Mel Brooks played a man who claimed to be 2,000 years old. Reiner was an interviewer and Brooks would spin stories about life in the early days and his encounters with famous historical figures. Truly brilliant.
Though there are video clips showing the two comedians performing various versions of the sketch, by far my favorite is the one they recorded, audio only, for their 2,000 Year Old Man album. The first part of the audio is embedded in a YouTube video, below.
This is just silly, yet somehow I couldn’t stop watching it. Mostly, this is for those who were not aware that Scottie Pippin was really one of the Beatles…
