Only Place You Can Hear This Song is Brooklyn…
I love this story. Alec Duffy won a contest. The prize? Ownership of a brand new (at the time, 2007) Sufjan Stevens song. If you don’t know Sufjan Stevens, check out the song Chicago, one of my favorites.
Anyway, the thinking of the music community, the contest organizers, and of Mr. Stevens himself was that Duffy would upload the song to the net. But nope. Mr. Duffy, as is his right, only plays the song if you come to his apartment. He does not charge for the privilege. Absolutely brilliant!
